Children's Liturgy

Children's Liturgy has been a feature of Sunday Mass at All Souls since Fr McGavin was parish priest. Initially it was held at the later Mass but now it only takes place at the earlier 9.30 Mass.

In the early days the Children's Liturgy was held in the old scout hut (now demolished) at the rear of the church. Then it moved to the presbytery but nowadays it is held in the Parish Room.

Children's Liturgy is run by a teams of adult volunteers. It is important to note that there are always at least two adults to supervise each group and that all the volunteers have been vetted according to the guidelines issued by the Archdiocese Safeguarding Co-ordinator. Children's Liturgy does not take place during the holiday period when many people are away.

The children leave the main celebation of the Mass just before the Gloria and return to take the offertory to the altar. While they are away they usually hear the same Gospel as everyone else but take part in discussion and activities more appropriate to their age group (primary school age). Parents often accompany their children, expecially if they are very young.

We are always looking for new volunteers to help. If you have a strong Catholic faith and are interested, why not come along and observe to begin with?
